The most popular semisolid jewellery pieces are hoop earrings, rope chains and bracelets, ball and post studs, large linked chains/bracelets, and intricately woven chains/bracelets. Unfortunately, it can be hard to find really good quality hollow jewellery. The best attribute of semisolid jewellery is that it gives great bang for your buck.  If you are shopping for a giant, chunky Gold bracelet, for example, chances are you’re probably not looking to spend £10k on a solid piece—that thing would not only be seriously expensive but it’d be heavy. So, as an alternative, a nice hollow-form bracelet might be just what you’re looking for—and ring up at £2800 instead!

Whereas most metals are grey or silvery white, Gold is slightly reddish-yellow. Common coloured Gold alloys include the distinctive eighteen-karat Rose Gold created by the addition of copper. Alloys containing Palladium are also important in commercial jewellery as they produce White Gold alloys. Fourteen- and eighteen-karat Gold alloys with Silver alone appear greenish-yellow and are referred to as Green Gold. Less commonly, the addition of manganese, aluminium, indium and other elements can produce more unusual colours of gold for various applications.
