Gorgeous - I adore insect jewellery and these are a great example; I particularly like that they aren't tiny, as many are. The dragonflies are 1" in length, when you take the wire into consideration the drop is approx 1.5".

The body of each dragonfly contains a small polished amber; which is an organic gem formed by fossilised resin and thus is expected to contain inclusions. Indeed, it is not unusual to find that inclusions consist of small insects, as the sap which formed the resin millions of years ago was sticky in order to trap insects and prevent them from boring into the tree's bark.

The detail on the wings is lovely, picking out the fragile sections. Altogether delightful!

Amber is a soft organic gem, and as such should be treated with care. Clean in warm water with a little liquid soap, rinse and dry thoroughly with a microfibre cloth. Polish using a similar cloth and a few drops of olive oil.

All gemstones can be damaged through wear and tear. Make sure you check for loose stones or damaged prongs periodically. Always take your jewellery off whenever you are doing activities that might cause damage. Remember that household cleaners and chlorine in swimming pools can damage many gems.

Jewellery is best stored individually in a soft pouch or a box with compartments away from sunlight and where harder gemstones can’t scratch softer ones.
