Ruby is the birthstone for July, and the anniversary stone for both the 15th and 40th year of marriage. It's name comes from the Latin 'rubers' meaning 'red'. In the Bible it was referred to as a carbuncle! The gem of love, it is often given as a symbol of the strength of one's relationship.
