VINTAGE SILVER HORN OF PLENTY PENDANT

This is a lovely example, in beautifully crafted Sterling Silver, of a stylised 'Cornucopia' - a lucky pendant/charm worn to attract abundance. In classical antiquity, the cornucopia was also called the horn of plenty and was a symbol of fertility, abundance and nourishment. It was represented by a large horn-shaped container overflowing with produce, flowers or nuts. In the USA, cornucopia is associated with Thanksgiving.

This horn is 35mm in length. Age has given it some oxidisation marks, which I think adds to its character. I cannot accurately date it as it came to me without a jump ring, which often carries the hallmark, but these were extremely popular in the 90s. Supplied with a large new Silver jump ring as pictured.
