ANTIQUE SILVER HAND ENGRAVED SHIELD FOB PENDANT

Hello and thanks for visiting my shop! Here we have a beautiful antique silver watch fob, presented to a G. Stout in 1911 by 'B. S. M. W. C. C.' Cricket club? Chess Club? Internet research hasn't helped me identify the reason it was presented, infuriatingly; I like to be knowledgable about my items but in this case, a full history eludes me.

Stunning shield design, framed with an intricate cut-out design, this fob is free from inscriptions on the front and is in excellent condition. This would look fantastic hung from a chain or as an addition to a charm bracelet or Albert chain. Approx. 43 mm long, 28mm at widest point. Today, anyone can easily wear this piece, just add to a chunky Silver chain for a statement look.

Please note, I only lightly clean my antique and vintage silver pieces so they will retain their natural patina.

All packages are tracked, so you never need to worry about anything getting lost in the post!

Amongst the smallest hallmarked antiques commonly available are watch fob medals, a decorative item now scarcely remembered, even by the few remaining wearers of pocket watches.  Fob medals, hung from the watch chain, were small badges of status, allegiance or achievement - sometimes only recognisable to others of a group. The variety of decoration in these medals was huge (mostly Classical or heraldic forms) but also a large number depicting sports, football especially. The backs are often engraved with dates, names and achievements - and equally often with (to us) cryptic letters and dates.
