SILVER OPENWORK SHAMROCK PENDANT
Christine Alexander Fine Jewellery
Well, hello there, lucky little thing. π
If you're looking for a piece of jewellery with a bit of meaning, symbolism and good old-fashioned luck attached to it, this dainty Sterling Silver shamrock / four-leaf clover pendant is rather lovely.
Small, lightweight and beautifully easy to wear, it's the sort of pendant you can pop on every day and quietly carry a little bit of luck around with you.
And frankly, in the current state of the world, I'll take all the luck I can get.
The shamrock charm measures approximately 13 x 24mm, including the bale, making it large enough to be noticed but small enough to remain delicate and understated.
It's a lovely choice for anyone who adores clover jewellery, lucky charms, Irish-inspired jewellery, nature-inspired designs or meaningful Silver pendants.
Or someone who could simply do with the universe being a little bit more helpful.
π Shamrock, Four-Leaf Clover & A Bit of Good Fortune
The clover is one of those wonderfully ordinary little plants that has acquired rather extraordinary symbolism.
Clover grows prolifically with very little provocation, which would have made it a rather powerful symbol to ancient Celtic peoples and their neighbours.
Its ability to spread and flourish could be associated with stability, abundance, expansion and fecundity β essentially, the botanical equivalent of things are going rather well, aren't they?
And then, of course, there's the four-leaf clover.
Finding one has traditionally been considered lucky precisely because four-leaf varieties are much less common than the familiar three-leaf form.
So this little pendant makes a lovely symbolic gift for someone beginning something new, someone who needs a bit of encouragement, or simply someone you want to remind that you're wishing them well.

π Add Your Favourite Chain
I sell my pendants and chains separately, because apparently we all have opinions about necklace lengths.
Some people like a short 16-inch chain. Others want something longer. Some want a delicate chain, and some want something with a little more presence.
So rather than deciding for you, I let you choose.
If you can't see the chain you'd like on my website, please drop me a message. I have considerably more available than I can list online, and I'm always happy to help you find something suitable.
I also offer a discount on chains purchased with a pendant.
If you're unsure which chain would work best with this pendant, ask me. I'll happily make a recommendation.
π€ Why Sterling Silver?
Silver has been treasured for thousands of years, and its history is considerably more interesting than you might expect from something that spends much of its time sitting quietly in a jewellery box.
The earliest known Silver coins were minted in the kingdom of Lydia in Asia Minor around 600 BC.
From there, Silver became fundamental to monetary systems around the world. Silver standards β where the standard economic unit was based on a fixed weight of Silver β remained widespread for centuries, right through to the 20th century.
The amount of Silver used for coinage compared with other purposes has varied enormously throughout history. During wartime, for example, more Silver could be diverted towards coinage to help finance conflict.
And today, Silver coins are produced using a rather more industrial process: Silver is cast into rods or ingots, rolled to the correct thickness, heat-treated and cut into blanks before being milled and struck in a coining press.
Modern presses can apparently produce around 8,000 Silver coins an hour.
Which makes my little 13 x 24mm clover pendant seem positively leisurely.

Small enough to be subtle.
Pretty enough to be noticed.
Meaningful enough to make a lovely gift.
And hopefully lucky enough to make the universe finally pull its finger out.
