Emeralds have captivated royalty, explorers and hopeless romantics for thousands of years.

They're the birthstone for May, the gemstone traditionally associated with Taurus, and they celebrate the 20th, 35th and 55th wedding anniversaries.

Long associated with renewal, wisdom and enduring love, Emeralds somehow manage to feel both regal and wonderfully fresh at the same time.

Rather like someone who always remembers to water their houseplants.

A Little Emerald Care

Natural Emeralds are fascinating little things.

In fact, it's estimated that around 90% of natural Emeralds contain tiny fractures that are traditionally enhanced with oils or resins to improve their appearance.

Because of this, Emerald jewellery deserves a little extra kindness.

Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners, as vibrations and intense heat can damage treated stones.

Instead, simply clean your ring using warm soapy water, a soft cloth or gentle brush, rinse carefully and dry with a lint-free cloth.

Sometimes the old-fashioned methods really are the best.

Yes, darlings, I dispatch as soon as my little hands can package your treasure — but remember, I'm a boutique, not Bezos. If I have your piece to hand, it will be dispatched the same day, but the vast majority comes to me first from my wondrous Silver and Goldsmiths on order.

Anywhere from 5 to 30 working days, depending on customs, the mood of your postal service and whether Mercury is in retrograde.
