9CT GOLD CUSHION CUT LIGHT SWISS BLUE TOPAZ & DIAMOND PENDANT
Christine Alexander Fine Jewellery

Imagine if you could scoop up a slice of summer sky, cut it into a gemstone, and wear it around your neck. That’s basically what this pendant is doing. A dainty 9ct Yellow Gold setting, claw-set with a rectangular cushion-cut Light Swiss Blue Topaz (7x5mm of sheer optimism), framed by a halo of vintage-style round cut Diamonds (0.06ct). Altogether, it weighs an airy 0.9g, which is less than a teabag but infinitely more glamorous.
Blue Topaz has one of the more chaotic name histories in gemland. The small Red Sea island of Zabargad was once called Topazios—though ironically, it produced Peridot, not Topaz. (Cleopatra was decked out in the wrong stone entirely, but when you’re Cleopatra, you can probably get away with it.) Others think the name comes from the Sanskrit tapaz, meaning “fire,” which is amusing, given that the stone itself is blue and cool as a cucumber.
Here’s the real kicker: blue was once one of the rarest Topaz colours. Today, thanks to science (specifically irradiation and heat treatment), we get three shades: Sky Blue, Swiss Blue, and London Blue. This one is Swiss Blue—a sort of “midway sky on a very good holiday” colour. It’s lighter than London Blue (moody ocean vibes), darker than Sky Blue (barely-there breakfast sky), and perfect if you want something bold but still daytime-appropriate.
Whether you’re a December baby claiming Blue Topaz as your birthstone, or just someone who thinks “yes, I will dress like a Mediterranean swimming pool today, thanks,” this pendant is your new best friend.
Chains are sold separately (because jewellery, like politics, is all about personal choice). If you’re paralysed by indecision, I’ll happily recommend one—and yes, I’ll give you a discount if you grab both together. Matching stud earrings and rings are also available if you’re the sort who craves a full set.
Your pendant will arrive in a Christine Alexander-branded gift box—elegant, recyclable, and perfect for dramatically presenting it to yourself like you’re proposing in the mirror.
Care Tip
Topaz may look like it’s made of bottled sky, but treat it kindly: store separately in a pouch or a divided jewellery box, far from scratchy neighbours.
