The humble sunburst isn't just beautiful.

It's one of humanity's oldest symbols.

Across countless cultures, the sun has represented life, strength, renewal and divine power. Artists have depicted it as a radiant disk with alternating triangular and wavy rays for thousands of years.

One of the most famous examples is the Vergina Sun, an ancient Greek solar emblem appearing in artwork between the 6th and 2nd centuries BC, often shown with sixteen, twelve or eight dramatic rays.

Closer to home, the sunburst became the personal badge of King Edward III, eventually forming part of the insignia of the Windsor Herald.

Why I Love Vermeil

If you've never discovered Gold Vermeil, prepare to become rather fond of it.

Vermeil is created by applying a generous layer of Gold over solid Sterling Silver, giving you the luxurious warmth of Gold with the strength of a precious metal beneath.

It's one of my favourite finishes because it offers the look of solid Gold without requiring you to remortgage the house.

That said, Vermeil does appreciate being treated kindly.

Caring for Your Rose Gold Vermeil Bracelet

To keep your bracelet glowing beautifully for years to come:

• Apply perfume, hairspray and body sprays before putting on your jewellery.

• Allow hand creams and lotions to absorb fully before wearing it.

• Remove your bracelet before exercising, showering or swimming, as water, chlorine, perspiration and cosmetics gradually wear the Gold plating.

• After each wear, gently wipe it with a soft cotton cloth to remove natural oils and dust.

• Never use a jewellery polishing cloth, as these are designed for solid precious metals and may remove the Vermeil plating.

• Store it separately in a soft pouch or jewellery box to prevent scratches from harder jewellery.
