⚠️ A Very Important Word About Trace Chains

Now, because I'm selling jewellery rather than magical invincible string, I need to be honest about this one.

Trace chains are delicate.

They are designed for lightweight pendants and elegant everyday wear, not for carrying a large or heavy pendant. They can stretch or break if pulled, caught or subjected to excessive force.

Where a trace chain forms part of the original design of a piece, it has been stress-tested to ensure that it is suitable for that particular pendant.

However, I do not recommend adding heavier pendants or additional weight to this fine chain. You absolutely can do so at your own risk, but I would much rather you didn't end up emailing me with a tale involving a necklace, a door handle and several thousand pounds' worth of regret.

Treat it gently, and it will reward you beautifully.

✨ What Exactly Is Vermeil?

Vermeil is Gold-plated Silver – in this case, Sterling Silver finished with a beautiful Rose Gold coating.

It gives you the lovely appearance of Rose Gold whilst retaining Sterling Silver as the precious-metal base.

As with all plated jewellery, the longevity of the coating depends on how it is worn and cared for. Eventually, the Rose Gold coating will naturally wear, and the Silver underneath may become visible.

That isn't a manufacturing fault; it's simply the nature of plating and the unavoidable consequence of jewellery being worn against skin, clothing and the general chaos of being alive.

With proper care, however, the Rose Gold finish can remain beautiful for years.

🧴 Rose Gold Vermeil Care

If you want to keep that gorgeous rosy finish looking its best, please give it a little love.

• Remove it before showering, bathing or swimming.
• Avoid household detergents and cleaning products.
• Chlorine is particularly hard on plating and can be present even in tap water.
• Avoid perfume, hairspray, creams and other chemicals coming into direct contact with the chain.
• Put your jewellery on after lotions and creams have been absorbed.
• Store it somewhere dry and preferably in its jewellery box when you're not wearing it.
• Don't use abrasive jewellery cleaners or polishing cloths on the plated surface, as these can remove the Rose Gold coating.

And if, eventually, the plating does wear, it can be professionally re-plated – because jewellery is supposed to have a life, not be sent to the bin at the first sign of ageing.
