GOLD VERMEIL ANGEL WING STUD EARRINGS
Christine Alexander Fine Jewellery
These Gold Vermeil Angel's wing stud earrings are lovely pieces of jewellery to remember someone by, or maybe because you just love angels. These studs make a lovely gift and as with all my jewellery, they arrive in a fully recycled Christine Alexander branded gift box. What's not to love?
A matching pendant is available, and this same design is also available in Silver.
Because bird and wing symbolism is closely linked, winged creatures in art can be rapacious and frightening (especially those with scaly or bat wings) or alternatively angelic. The artistic convention of giving angels wings appeared in about the 6th century CE, based on classical images of messenger gods and other winged deities. Winged discs are solar emblems.
Gold Vermeil is Sterling Silver plated with at least 18k Gold or Rose Gold - designers use it instead of Gold or Rose Gold for the same look but at a much more affordable price. Depending on how the jewellery is cared for and what chemicals and elements it comes in contact with, Vermeil should retain its golden look for several years. However, over time, as with all plating, eventually the coating will begin to wear and the Silver underneath will be seen. Although you will be left with what is still a precious metal item, if you wish to preserve the plating, avoid household detergents, particularly chlorine which can be present in tap water; remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing or showering. It is a simple matter to have items re-plated.
