Make her, or indeed yourself the belle of the ball with this gorgeous Amethyst & Diamond pendant!

A very classy 18ct White Gold Amethyst Pendant. This pendant has been expertly faceted and it absolutely glistens! The Oval cut Amethyst measures approximately 8cts. The colour of the Amethyst is much better in real life than we are able to capture in the image, it is very marginally darker at the top than the bottom, but is a deep, velvety purple that I have been advised would be classed as Siberian.

This detailed pendant's mount is intricate but not cumbersome. It measures 1.6"/34mm. long. There is a single round brilliant cut accent diamond that is .20cts. All stones have been checked for security by a jeweller.  Set in 18ct white gold, the oval cut Amethyst is suspended from a looping surmount and 18ct white gold 16” (41cms) Spiga link chain. Weight 10.3g. She’s truly stunning, deep purple, and having worn her in the shop, makes her presence felt - heavy and eye-catching.

Throughout history, Amethyst has been one of the most popular and mystical of all gemstones. Amethyst is the name given to purple Quartz and some believe that its name derives from the Greek word “Amethustos”, “A” meaning “not” and “methustos” meaning “to intoxicate”. In ancient times, wealthy lords who wanted to stay sober were said to have had drinking glasses or goblets made from Amethyst. While pouring wine for their guests they could serve themselves water, as the dark purple hue of the gem would disguise the colour of the drink so it looked like wine, thus allowing the lord appear to be partaking in a tipple.

Amethyst occurs in many shades, from a light, slightly lavender pinkish to a deep purple similar to that of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. It is the birthstone of February. It is also associated with the zodiac signs of Pisces, Aries, Aquarius and Sagittarius.
