Jewellery Care – Because Gold Is Precious, Not Indestructible
Although 9ct Gold is a durable choice for everyday jewellery, it still appreciates being treated like the precious little thing it is. I recommend removing your chain before showering, bathing, swimming, exercising or sleeping, particularly if you are wearing a pendant that could place additional strain on the chain. Perfume, hairspray, creams, cosmetics, chlorine and household cleaning products can also affect the appearance of jewellery over time, so ideally put your jewellery on after you've finished applying everything that makes you smell fabulous.
When you're not wearing your chain, store it somewhere clean and dry and, where possible, keep it separate from other jewellery to reduce the risk of scratches and tangling. If it needs cleaning, use a soft jewellery cloth and gentle handling rather than anything abrasive. Gold may be wonderfully durable, but it has absolutely no interest in surviving an afternoon with a bottle of bathroom cleaner and a determined human being.
