Sometimes you need ONE spectacular little bit of sparkle sitting in exactly the right place, looking effortlessly cool while the rest of your jewellery quietly wonders why it wasn't invited.

This is a single 9ct Gold Cubic Zirconia earring, designed with the helix piercing particularly in mind, although — as I can personally confirm — it also sits very happily in the conch.

And that's the joy of this little beauty.

It's a versatile single piercing earring that you can move around your ear and mix with your existing jewellery, creating your own combination rather than simply sticking to the traditional "matching pair because that's what jewellery has always done" approach.

Frankly, I'm all for rebellion where earrings are concerned.

The Cubic Zirconia stones are the stars of the show here.

They're beautifully bright and sparkly, catching the light with that lovely crisp, diamond-like flash that makes you keep turning your head towards mirrors for absolutely no practical reason.

Cubic Zirconia — usually shortened to CZ — is a laboratory-created gemstone widely used as an affordable alternative to Diamond. It's prized for its clarity, brilliance and fire, making it particularly fabulous for small pieces of jewellery where you want maximum sparkle without maximum expenditure.

And because this earring is designed to be worn on its own, that sparkle really does have a chance to do its thing.

No competing pair required.

Although I designed this one with helix piercings in mind, you can have a play with where you wear it.

Mine sits happily in my conch, but depending on your piercings and anatomy, you could experiment with different placements.

Wear it alongside hoops, studs, huggies or other single earrings and create your own little constellation of sparkle.

Because ears, frankly, are wonderfully underused real estate.

Store each piece individually in a soft pouch or in a jewellery box with compartments, rather than allowing all your pieces to have a nightly wrestling match together.

Keep your jewellery away from direct sunlight when stored, and try not to let harder gemstones come into contact with softer ones, as they can scratch each other.

For the best longevity, remove your jewellery when doing anything likely to cause unnecessary knocks, scratches or damage.
