In the Aegean Region and other areas where light-coloured eyes are relatively rare, people with green eyes, and especially blue eyes, are thought to bestow the curse, intentionally or unintentionally. Thus, in Greece and Turkey amulets against the evil eye take the form of blue eyes.

The term pave (pronounced “pah–vay”) setting is used to describe gems that are set very close together and are only separated by tiny prongs or metal beads. Because of the look that this style creates, it is named after the word “pavement”.
