'Illusion' is a style of setting gemstones in rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets, whereby the gems are set into a metal or plating - such as rhodium (a member of the platinum family), where the colour of the metal is similar to the gemstone, thus maximising the aesthetic properties of the gem. Whilst traditionally rhodium plating has been used on yellow gold in areas surrounding the Diamond to create an illusion of bigger, brighter Diamonds, today there are many other colours being used.

Let's face it - Diamonds are the quintessential gemstone. They're a girl's best friend... the forever stone...Sure, a Diamond is the only gemstone composed of a single element - carbon. Sure, it's the hardest gemstone, measuring a 10 on the hardness scale, but that's not why we love Diamonds. It's their sparkle, their promise... it's the white light that dances. It's the way they say you have arrived.

White Gold is an alloy of Gold and at least one white metal (usually nickel, Silver, or Palladium). White gold is usually enhanced with Rhodium plating. To preserve this plating, avoid swimming in your jewellery as chlorine, in particular, can cause faster degradation. Chlorine is present in small amounts in tap water, so it is best to avoid getting your jewellery wet where possible.  It is a simple matter to have items re-plated.
