White gold is usually enhanced with Rhodium plating. To preserve this plating, avoid swimming in your jewellery as chlorine, in particular, can cause faster degradation. Chlorine is present in small amounts in tap water, so it is best to avoid getting your jewellery wet where possible. It is a simple matter to have items re-plated.
Strikingly beautiful and a thousand times rarer than a Diamond, Tanzanite is a geological phenomenon available from just a single location on Earth. In the light of day, deep electric blues evoke that ‘love at first sight' feeling, and then by the evening its purples, violets and reds ignite a sense of passion. Found in only one location in the world Tanzanite is truly spectacular! Even though Zoisite, the stone of which Tanzanite is the blue variety, occurs widely, the geological conditions that are required to enable the gem to turn into its trademark blue are so rare that it has been described as ‘more astounding than the stone itself’. It was added to the official birthstone list in 2002, for the month of December.
