Alright, my lovely jewellery people, let's talk about the Claddagh – because if you're going to wear a ring that symbolises love, loyalty and friendship, you might as well choose one that also sparkles like it has somewhere important to be.

This beautiful Claddagh ring is crafted in 925 Sterling Silver and finished with a rich 14ct Gold vermeil, creating that gorgeous warm Gold appearance without requiring you to sell a kidney to fund it.

🍀 The Claddagh – Three Symbols, One Very Good Story

The Claddagh ring is one of Ireland's most recognisable jewellery designs, originating in the fishing village of Claddagh, just outside the old city walls of Galway.

The design traditionally features three elements:

The Claddagh ring, as we recognise it today, dates back to the 17th century, although the symbolism has become wonderfully timeless.

Basically, it's doing rather a lot of emotional heavy lifting for one small piece of jewellery.

💍 How Do You Wear a Claddagh Ring?

Now, this is where things get delightfully complicated, because apparently the Irish decided that one ring could communicate your entire romantic situation without anyone actually having to say anything. Very efficient.

Traditionally, the direction of the heart tells the story.

❤️ Single: Wear the ring on your right hand with the heart pointing outwards, away from you. This traditionally indicates that your heart is still available.

❤️ In a relationship: Wear it on your right hand with the heart pointing towards you. Your heart is taken; thank you very much.

💍 Engaged: The ring is traditionally moved to the left hand with the heart pointing outwards, towards your fingertips.

💍 Married: Once married, the Claddagh is worn on the left hand with the heart pointing inwards, towards your wrist, symbolising that your heart belongs to your partner.

Of course, modern jewellery rules are rather less strict than they once were, so you can wear your Claddagh however feels right to you. Jewellery should tell your story, not make you sit an exam.

💎 And Then We Add The Sparkle…

Because tradition is wonderful, but I am still running a jewellery business, and therefore there absolutely must be sparkle.

The principal stone is a lab-created white Cubic Zirconia in a heart shape, held in a bezel setting.

Crowning it are round white lab-created Cubic Zirconia stones, secured in claw settings.

Cubic Zirconia is the crystalline form of zirconium dioxide and has become one of the best-known Diamond alternatives. It is hard, durable, colourless in its classic form and wonderfully brilliant, making it an affordable way of achieving that glorious bright gemstone sparkle.

So, if you love the look of Diamonds but your bank account has other opinions, CZ is rather splendid.

💛 14ct Gold Vermeil Over Sterling Silver

A quick but important bit of jewellery housekeeping, because 14ct Gold vermeil is not solid Gold.

Vermeil is a layer of Gold applied over Sterling Silver, giving you that beautiful, rich Gold finish while keeping the underlying piece Silver.

It does require a little more love and attention than solid Gold jewellery.

And rings need particular care.

Why? Because your hands are basically the frontline of modern life. They get washed, sanitised, moisturised, knocked against tables, shoved into handbags, subjected to shopping trolleys, and generally treated like unpaid employees.

All of that can gradually wear away Gold plating.

🚿 Please Remove Your Ring Before Washing Your Hands

I strongly recommend removing this ring before washing your hands.

Please remove your ring before showering, swimming, exercising or anything involving excessive water and sweat. Keep it away from perfume, hairspray, lotions, oils, nail polish, nail polish remover and household chemicals.

Basically, if it sounds like something you wouldn't want to drink, don't let your ring swim in it.

Allow creams and lotions to dry completely before putting the ring on.

After wearing, gently wipe the ring with a soft cotton ball or very soft cloth to remove oils and dirt.

Do not use a jewellery polishing cloth or abrasive jewellery cleaner, as these can remove the Gold plating.

When you're not wearing it, keep your ring in the jewellery box provided, ideally wrapped or separated from other jewellery to prevent scratching.

With sensible care, you can help preserve that lovely Gold finish for considerably longer.
