The Magic of Filigree

If you've never fallen down the delightful rabbit hole that is filigree jewellery, allow me to introduce you.

Filigree is created by twisting and soldering incredibly fine strands of precious metal into delicate lace-like patterns. It has been enchanting jewellery lovers since ancient Greek and Etruscan civilisations before flourishing throughout the Victorian era and beyond.

The word itself comes from the Latin filum (thread) and granum (grain), which feels wonderfully appropriate because each design resembles precious metal embroidery.

The result is jewellery that somehow manages to look both wonderfully delicate and incredibly luxurious at the same time.
