RHODIUM PLATED SILVER PEAR CUT GREEN CUBIC ZIRCONIA HALO STUDS
Christine Alexander Fine Jewellery
It’s not every day I trip over imitation Emerald jewellery that looks like it’s just slipped out of a mahogany cabinet in a Mayfair drawing room, but here we are. These spectacular pear-cut Emerald green stud earrings are frankly outrageous in the best possible way — all the drama, none of the eye-watering price tag.
Their deliciously curved facets and open-backed setting catch the light with even the tiniest movement, flashing deep forest greens, apple greens and the sort of colour that makes people squint suspiciously and say, “Are those real?” (You may simply smile mysteriously.) The Rhodium-plated Sterling Silver setting is bright, cool and unapologetically glamorous, finished with a halo of tiny clear stones that whisper antique glamour rather than shout costume jewellery.
Perfect for work when you want to look competent and mildly powerful, or for evenings when you’re wearing That Dress. Practical butterfly backs keep them safely in place from morning meetings through to late-night cocktails, because losing an earring in a taxi is a personal tragedy I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
They’re also available with a clear centre stone, plus red, blue and fine champagne options — and yes, there’s a matching ring and pendant if you enjoy a coordinated moment.
Now, a quick word on sparkle care (because glamour likes to be treated nicely):
All gemstones can be damaged through everyday wear, so do check occasionally for loose stones or tired claws. Remove your jewellery for anything remotely resembling effort, danger or cleaning products — chlorine and household cleaners are not your jewellery’s friends. When in doubt, a soft, slightly damp cloth is the universal peace offering.
As for the metal, Rhodium is a precious white metal from the Platinum family and costs eight times more than pure Gold (and an eye-watering 23 times more than 9ct Gold). It’s hard, scratch-resistant, gloriously white and used to plate Silver to prevent tarnish and boost shine. Think of it as skincare, but for jewellery.
And yes — I adore antique-cut Diamonds. Their charm is unmatched. Their price tags? Less so. Isn’t it time we stopped waiting for the jewels we’ll have “one day” and wore something just as beautiful now? I think so. Why not indeed.
