Amber is one of a few gems which is organic and made of fossilised resin from ancient trees. Therefore no two pieces are the same. If you are lucky enough to get a piece with tiny insects trapped inside, this is due to the fact that when the resin leaked from the tree, it was incredibly sticky as its job was to stop insects from boring into the bark. Most have gas bubbles and tiny pieces of organic material such as bark. Many people believe that Amber brings good luck and aids well being.
Amber is a soft organic gem, and as such should be treated with care. Clean in warm water with a little liquid soap, rinse and dry thoroughly with a microfibre cloth. Polish using a similar cloth and a few drops of olive oil.
