SILVER CULTURED FRESHWATER PEARL STUDS
Amazing lustre to these pearls, or 'orient' - the name given to the luminescence of a pearl, caused by the light reflecting off layers of nacre. These pearls are cultured, which means the mollusc was 'seeded' and left on a pearl farm to do its thing. This is a much more environmentally friendly method of collecting pearls then diving for 'wild' pearls, which is destructive to coral and sealife. 99% of pearls sold today are indeed cultured.
These are set simply in sterling silver, and are 4.5mm across. 4mm, 6mm and 8mm studs are available also.
Pearls are one of the birthstones for June. They are often given to brides, as it was believed they would promote marital bliss and prevent the bride from crying on the day.
Care of Pearls: Wear them often! The skin's natural oils protect the nacre. Keep them away from household chemicals, and always put pearls on last, after perfume, make-up and hairspray.
