💎 Why Cubic Zirconia?

The blue stone in this pendant is Lab-created Cubic Zirconia (CZ) — a popular Diamond simulant used throughout the jewellery industry.

Cubic Zirconia was discovered naturally in 1937 as an inclusion in Zircon crystals, while attempts to synthesise it began in the 1960s, with the manufacturing process perfected during the early 1970s.

CZ is considerably harder than many other Diamond simulants and has a high level of dispersion, giving it that lovely lively sparkle we all want from our jewellery without the rather terrifying Diamond price tag.

It is most commonly colourless, but different elements can be introduced during manufacture to create a wide range of colours — including this gorgeous soft blue.

So, no, it isn't pretending to be a natural Diamond. It's doing its own perfectly respectable thing as an affordable, durable and sparkly jewellery stone.

I sell my pendants and chains separately, because apparently we all have opinions about necklace lengths. Who knew?

Some people want a dainty 16-inch chain, some prefer 18 inches, some want something longer — and some of us have a jewellery box containing approximately seventeen chains that are nearly the right length but not quite.

So I let you choose.
